Carbondale has a Mayor-Council form of government. Meetings are held at 7:00 P.M. on the first and third Mondays of each month in the council room at City Hall. In the event that the meeting night falls on a legal holiday, the meeting will be held on Tuesday night. The Mayor presides over all meetings of the City Council and recommends measures he/she deems advisable. The Mayor has the power to appoint all members to the City Boards with the consent of the majority of the Council members. The Mayor votes on Council business only in case of a tie vote and Charter Ordinances. The Mayor has the power to sign or veto any ordinance passed by the Council.
If you would like to place an item on the agenda, please stop by City Hall or to fill out a request form online click here.
