Utilities

The City of Carbondale provides water and sewer services for residents and business within the city limits and residential trash pick-up for residents.

Utility bills are mailed around the 28th of each month and due no later than the 10th of the month. Bills are considered delinquent after 5:00 pm on the 10th of each month.

Sewer

The City provides sanitary sewer collection service for accounts within the city Limits and a limited number of rural residents. The city operates a six-lagoon system on the west side of town.

Trash

The city contracts residential trash pick-up service with Osage Waste Disposal. Trash service is included in the residential utility services. Collection day is Thursday. Please have your trash out to the curb before 7:00 am on the day of pick-up. In the event of a holiday occurring on a pick-up day or through the week, trash pickup is on Friday. See the schedule below, which is subject to change.

Water

The City owns and operates a water treatment facility. In 2007, an 8-year water system upgrade was completed. The upgrade included line replacement, construction of a 250,000-gallon water tower and a new water treatment facility.

The water system is regulated and monitored by KDHE & EPA. The water in the distribution system is tested weekly. A “Water Quality” or “Consumer Confidence Report” for the previous calendar year is sent to all water customers on an annual basis.
