FIREWORKS SAFETY IN THE CITY
7/1/2025
Dear Carbondale Residents,
Independence Day is just around the corner, and we’re excited to celebrate with you!
To help everyone have a safe and fun holiday, the Carbondale Police Department wants to remind you about our city’s fireworks rules and a few important safety tips.
When can you light fireworks?
June 27 – July 3 & July 5: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
July 4th: 8:00 AM – 12:00 midnight
When lighting fireworks:
• Have a water source ready in case of fire.
• Do NOT light fireworks if you’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• You CAN light fireworks in the street, but you must not block traffic and you must clean up all used fireworks and debris.
• Keep fireworks away from kids and pets when cooling down.
• Drink plenty of water or electrolytes to stay safe in the summer heat.
Plan ahead — don’t drive impaired!
Carbondale Police, the Osage County Sheriff’s Department, and Kansas Highway Patrol will be on patrol to help ensure everyone gets home safely. Please make the safe choice and have a designated sober driver.
Let’s keep our city safe and our celebrations fun for everyone — neighbors, families, and pets alike.
Have fun. Be safe. Celebrate responsibly!
