Planning Commission

The City of Carbondale has a Planning and Zoning Commission that meets the Second and Fourth Thursday of each month at City Hall.  The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of five members of the community.  They review rezoning requests, annexations and building permits. The Carbondale Planning Commission has also adopted some of the zoning regulations for Osage County and the International Building Code 2006 (currently), when reviewing regulations please make sure to review the other regulations and code as well.

Building permits

Building Permits are required before performing most improvements to your home.  Permits are not required for concrete flat work.  Permit applications can be obtained City Hall or on this website.   The permits must be completed and returned to the City Clerk with all applicable drawings and specifications.  A fee is charged upon approval of the permit.  Once a completed application is received, the City Clerk will forward the application to the Zoning Administrator.  The administrator will contact you and the permit may be appoved within 10 days. If there are questions concerning the permit, it will be submitted to the Zoning Commission at the next scheduled meeting before approval is granted.

If you are aware of a zoning violation and would like to report it, please call City Hall at 785-836-7108.
