In the City of Carbondale, we are defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values our residents hold dear. Carbondale is a Northeastern Kansas community with a population of 1,353 people located 12 miles south of Topeka on U.S. Highway 75 in Osage County. The city offers its residents a small town atmosphere with the convenience of being located just 10 minutes from the State Capital.
We are a full service community providing residents with a medical clinic, pharmacy, chiropractor, library, grocery store, bank and many other businesses. Carbondale has two parks, a swimming pool and a sports complex for summer youth activities.
Carbondale is one of three communities served by Santa Fe Trail School District 434 where students receive excellent academic and athletic opportunities.
